Big Inning for Gresham Paves Way to Win

A big inning was all it took for Gresham to knock off Kitsap 6-1 from Mt. Hood Community College on Tuesday.

Nick Caudillo (1-2) breezed through the bottom of the first before he ran into trouble in the bottom of the second. Josh Adams grounded out to begin the inning, then the GreyWolves (11-5) poured it on.

Ryan Adams was hit by a pitch and Jeffrey Mitchell Jr. walked. Ben Klenke singled to load the bases. Smith scored on a wild pitch and Drew Curtis singled in Mitchell Jr.

Curtis Perrin walked to load the bases again for Gresham. Dylan Doherty hit a sacrifice fly in to score a run and give the GreyWolves a 3-0 lead.

Connor Zickefoose doubled to score Curtis and Perrin to push Gresham ahead 5-0 off Caudillo. Zickefoose scored on a Mark Cardinalli double to cap off the six run second inning.

Joey Angyus relieved Caudillo and tossed five and one third innings of scoreless relief.

Kitsap (5-14) added its lone run on an RBI single by Benny Kaleiwahea to score Joey Galeno in the top of the eighth to make it a 6-1 game.

Donavon Ramirez (3-3) started for Gresham and earned the win. He tossed six strong innings of scoreless baseball, giving up five hits. The righty struck out seven while walking three.
